What is a balanced diet?

 

A balanced diet is a diet that contains all the right nutrients in order to make your body function properly 

 

What foods should a balanced diet contain?

A balanced diet should have lots of fibre, food that gives the needed vitamins and lots of water. It is important to have Fibre in our diet because it prevents weight gain, some cancers, diabetes and it improves our digestive system. Fruits and vegetables provide alot of vitamins which improve our immune system hence preventing diseases and flus. Drinking a lot of water keeps you hydrated and healthy.

 

What foods should we avoid to have a healthy balanced diet?

In order to have a healthy balanced diet, you need to avoid some foods. Avoid eating lots of sugar, processed cheese, foods that have unnecessary fats, white bread or eggs and/or processed meat such as sausages, salami, bacon etc. To be fit and healthy, you should prevent these foods because they can cause diseases that damage your body and healthy. Some of these diseases include arthritis, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart diseases, Gallstones etc.

 

What should I eat for an important meal of the day such as breakfast?

Since breakfast is the most important meal of the day, you need to eat foods that give you energy and makes your brain function. A healthy breakfast could include brown bread which contains carbohydrate, a non-concentrated juice for vitamins and water to keep you hydrated.

The digestive system is a group of organs working together to food into energy and basic nutrients to feed the entire body. 

 

What do athletes do to ensure a healthy system?

athletes need to eat lots of fruits and vegetables to be healthy and maintain their athletic physique and perfomance. In order to be anthlete, food is the most important aspect for aspiring athletes rather than working out all the time. When you snack, your body digests the food in order to provide it with energy to perform it's necesseary functions. As this is happening, the food is transformed to calories. For athletes, they need to consume the right amount of calories from different foods.   

 What type of food do athletes eat?

As expected athletes are known to eat healthy foods and rarely fast foods or never. If you are an aspiring athlete or want to pursue a sports career, you need to eat a balanced meal containing carbohydrates, proteins and vitamins.

Carbohydrates.

 However, the most important source of foods are carbohydrates because they provide energy for endurance and strength.  Carbohydrates fuel our centarl nervous systems and can also be stored in the body as glycogen which can later on be used during physical activities.

Proteins

Proteins are foods that repair and rebuild your muscles after a hard workout or tough physical activity. It is also used to make red blood cells which move oxygen to muscles and white cells, which help improve the immune system and fight off infections Proteins can often be found in meat however if you are pursuing a career in sports, avoid unhealthy choices such as burgers, fried chicken and bacon. Instead, go for healthy foods such as soy products such as fish(which help improve the brain) or beans.

Vitamins and water

vitamins do not give you energy however they do they help unlok the energy stored in order to use it during physical activities or workouts. As for water, it helps you keep hydrated as you lose alot of water through sweating therefore you need it.It also helps keep toxins away from your body
