Mothers Against Drunk Driving

 NO MORE VICTIMS

Heather Swift

Mothers Against Drunk Driving is a non-profit organization based in America and founded in early September of

1980 by a mother whose daughter was killed due to a drunk driving incident. As to what the goal is with this organiztion, their mission is...

“To aid the victims of crimes performed by individuals driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, to aid the families of such victims and to increase public awareness of the problem of drinking and drugged driving."

In order to achieve this goal, MADD extends the invitation to everyone to get involved somehow, whether that be

to support or join their cause, or to be a candidate yourself

of spreading drunk driving awareness. Participants

can support the cause through donations or take the opportunity to volunteer, become an intern, or explore other career options.

MADD supports both victims and survivers of drunk

driving accidents and all with the help of those who donate

or support the cause.

Every 8 minutes one person is served, no charge.

Such a cause is valuable not only to those who have been victims, but to the family of those victims as

well. Preventing an accident also prevents tradgedies and heartache.

When MADD was founded in 1980, the rate per year of deaths from drunk driving accidents was nearly 25,000.

Since then, MADD has helped to significantly lower that number.

In 2006 MADD launched their Campaign to Elimante Drunk Driving and the Board of Director's revised the organization's mission statement to match the priorities the campaign set forth, as it now reads:

“The mission of Mothers Against Drunk Driving is to end drunk driving, help fight drugged driving, support the victims of these violent crimes and prevent underage drinking.”
