RESIDENTIAL TOWER DEVELOPMENT Sydney Harbour Vicinity, NSW This project involved the design of several landscaping elements, to suit the refurbishment of an existing commercial tower, into high-end residential living. Working closely with the architectural team and client, Groundink prepared an extensive DA package that included public domain, private courtyard/balcony landscape and a semiextensive communal roof garden to be build on top of a second new residential tower.

CAVANSTONE ESTATE Eastwood, NSW Working with a multi-disciplinary consultant team - consisting of architects, engineers, town planners and project managers - Groundink were engaged by AV Jennings to prepare the landscape design documentation for Development Application. The project required careful consideration of the existing site conditions and the relationship with the proposed architectural works, including pedestrian and vehicle access, podium landscaping and Council’s deep soil landscape and plant palette requirements.

TAMBOURINE BAY ROAD Lane Cove, NSW Sketch concept of pool bench seating and feature trees in raised planter boxes Example of sculptural focal element Working with Archebiosis Architects, Groundink were given the brief of preparing a formal design for this residential garden with a focus on outdoor entertainment. An existing swimming pool has been enhanced with raised planter boxes with Frangipani specimens and bench seating has been added along the site boundary for entertaining as well as storage of pool equipment under. Existing trees and shrubs have been retained where appropriate with supplementary planting added to complement the overall vision.

PRIVATE RESIDENCE Edensor Park, NSW Groundink was given the brief of producing a modern garden design for this residential property, that would complement the project’s architectural character. Conceptual design layouts were explored and developed in 3D for discussion with the client and detailed landscape documentation was prepared for submission to Council. A large deck forms the centrepiece of the garden and provides a relaxing outdoor entertaining space with views over the garden.

Planting facing the street is a lush, tidy combination of green foliage together with a feature dwarf Magnolia tree. 520 BRIDGE RE-THINK, RE-USE Seattle, USA As part of Seattle’s 2012 Re-Think, Re-Use Design Competition, Groundink submitted this proposal for the re-use of Seattle’s 520 floating bridge. The 520 Bridge is made-up of a series of floating pontoons which, as part of an environmental initiative, were to be re-used to embody Seattle’s ‘Green City’ objective. Groundink’s proposal perforated the pontoons, and created a dynamic arrangement which provides opportunities for various environmental and human interactions.

The town centre is a major transport hub for Sydney’s suburbs and great emphasis has been placed on creating an identifiable character through the public open space. PRIMARY SCHOOL Western Sydney, NSW Groundink was engaged to prepare the DA documentation for this Catholic primary school in Western Sydney. Outdoor learning spaces formed an integral component of the overall design scheme. Emphasis was placed on the southern tract of Cumberland Plain Woodland, which has been retained and enhanced as an ecological corridor. The introduction of a ‘nature walk’ encourages staff to teach their students about the existing vegetation community and the importance of its retention.

M7 TOLL EXPANSION FACILITY Eastern Creek, NSW This Toll packaging facility is located in Western Sydney and involved a considered approach to the landscaping of the site surrounds. Drought-tolerant plant species were carefully selected and arranged to ensure sight lines were maintained through the site, for security reasons. The team at Groundink prepared detailed documentation and were responsible for the on-site direction of the construction works, ensuring all planting was undertaken as per the documentation.
