~Mother's Against Drunk Driving (MADD)~
Our goal at MADD is to reduce drunk driving traffic fatalities and ultimately eliminate them all together.
The MADD has been looking into technology to prevent these horrific deaths. Ignition interlock is a system installed into your vehicle, typically in the glove department, that is connected to the ignition system in which you have to blow into before you’re able to start your vehicle. If your blood alcohol level is more than the allowed amount your vehicle will be unable to start.
1/3 of the DUI problem in America is made up of repeat offenders. In 2014 9,967 people were killed by repeat DUI offenders. Study’s show that this technology will decrease repeat offences by 67%.
The law that requires people who have had a DUI conviction to install ignition interlock into their vehicles has only been passed in 27 states, South Carolina not being one of them.
The MADD continues their efforts to get the ignition interlock mandatory for all who have been convicted of a DUI crime.
Exsisting Law's MADD Has Achived.
