Veterans can call 1-800-273-8255 and press one to recieve confidential support twenty-four hous a day, sevens days a week.

 

Veterans in Crisis have many tells about their depression. Veterans in Crisis are determined to help those who think their loved ones are suffering from depression/suicidal thoughts after being in the war. Everything a person says to them whether it be a phone call, text, hotline, of chat, will be confidentail.

                                                                            

 

 

Signs:

 

-Many veterans may not show signs of harming themselves before they do.

 

-Veterans in crisis may show behaviors that idicate a risk of self-harming themselves.

 

*Appearing sad/depressed most of the time

 

*Clinical depression- deep sadness, loss of interest, trouble sleeping and eating that doesn't go away and continues to get worse

 

* Feeling anxious, agitated, or unable to sleep

 

* Neglecting their physical appearance

 

* Withdrawing from friends, family, and society, or sleeping all of the time

 

*Losing interest in hobbies, work, school, or things they used to car about

 

*Frequent and dramatic mood changes

 

*Expressive feelings of guilt of shame

 

*Always feeling trapped

 

* Desperation, saying there is no solution to their problems

 

*Performing poorly at work or school

 

*Acting without thinking

 

*Or sudden violent behavior

 

 

 Some of the more serious signs are:

 

*Tempting fate by taking risks that could lead to serious injury or death

 

*Giving away prized possessions

 

*Or putting affairs in order/making a will.
