 Phenology notebook

By: Chapin Haag

Intro

Well, this project was for the class of Ecology and didn’t care what the project was so went to the handy dandy Mr. Shay to give a topic and  came up with the idea of doing a phenology notebook. Phenology notebook is where you take pictures of a nature scenery and keep a log of the changes of that one area.

Materials

  • something that can take pictures like a phone, camera, ipad etc..
  • some writing utensil
  • a notebook to record

Steps

1. Take picture of an area outside

2. Save picture and get the notebook

3. Write in notebook

4. Write down the observations of the picture you took including temperature ,humidity, precipitation, colors you see, what the weather is like etc..

5. Repeat these steps after a 5 days so every saturday take a picture and write down the information

6. Make sure you don’t forget to take the same picture again on the saturday and save the pictures and write down all the information

Methods

Just to monitoring animals and plants and tracking them seeing the changes over time/days

In results, nature changes throughout time and you can not see it.  When it’s early October it is still green and throughout the month of October you see the changes in the plants change colors and the temperature goes into the up down effect where it is high one day then low the next.

Abstract

Doing a Phenology notebook for the final Ecology project. A phenology notebook is where you take pictures of a nature scenery and keep a log of the changes of that one area. The results, are that when getting into the season fall you see more plants changing fun and bright colors throughout those Fall months but also the temperature can be warm and cold throughout it too. Concluding with that nature changes every second of the day whether you know it or not.

In conclusion, the hypothesis was right that nature changes everyday in a blink in an eye and when it gets to the fall the colors of the plants change and the temperature gets colder as it gets ready for winter.
