      Italy is a beautiful country that is shaped like a boot and which borders Austria, Slovenia, Switzerland, and France. It has many islands and cities and is home to about 100,000,00 people, with many traditions and cultures.

     Italy is known for many things but most of all its architecture,  food, arts, inventions, music and much more. Because of this, about 40,000,000 people visit Italy every year, for its stunning history and inventions that spread around the world and dominate the markets! 

Introduction 

     The Lamborghini is one of the most expensive cars in Italy. It was created in 1929 by Ferruccio Lam Borghini. He started manufacturing tractors for his first business and soon it became one of the biggest manufacturing companies in Italy. 

     He started working on luxury cars after buying other ones to get his ideas. Over the years his models got better and people started buying them. He started selling many car models and they became popular. 

     But unfortunately, his company suffered some economic conditions such as an oil crisis. Soon after, he sold his cars and walked away from his factory after having one of the most famous industries in hand. 

   Many cars have been created around the world but not all of them are known. You may know some cars including the Ferrari, Maserati, or Lamborghini. Did you know, that some cars that were founded in Italy cost more than $1,000,000?!

Cars

   Another car that was founded in Italy is the Ferrari. It is a very famous brand of cars much like the other ones. It was created in 1929 by Enzo Ferrari, the same year the Lamborgini was made.  

   The company started small under the name of Scuderia Ferrari. Eventually, the company started manufacturing race cars sponsoring many well-known people.

   Soon after, his cars went from a touring market to a super car market. That was wonderful for the company. It was like winning a gold cup! it was also very beneficial because more people could purchase the cars. 

   Unfortunately, Enzo Ferrari died in 1988, resulting in Fiat purchasing 50% of the Ferrari industry. 

    The Maserati is also a very famous car that was bought all over the world.  It was founded by the Maserati brothers in 1914.  Three brothers created the first Maserati and quickly sold their shares to Adolfo Orsi.

    Although they continued working for there company a while later they walked away from it. Eventually, Fiat took over it, and it regained its popularity after becoming bankrupt while the Italian government held them afloat. Later, Fiat joined Maserati with Alfa Romeo.  

       Gucci is a well-known clothing brand that was founded by Guccio Gucci who opened his first shop in Florence, Italy that specialized in leather bags. 

   In the 1930's, he created a shoe called the loafer and it was displayed in the New York’s Museum of Modern Art. The shoes that he created were very famous along with many other designs that spread worldwide such as his purses, clothing, sunglasses and much more. 

   His brother also helped him promote the company around the world by helping him open up boutiques in Paris, New York, and London.

 His designs are still around and are still very famous. 

   Fashion is a key aspect around the world. There are many different kinds of Fashion and Italy is known for exquisite and marvelous brands of fashion design around the world.  

Fashion

     There is another brand that sells a variety of products called Fila. This company was started by the Fila brothers when they opened up the first shop in northern Italy. 

     They started off, by combining fabrics, art, luxury, and textures to create their clothes. They created high-end clothing starting from sportswear particularly tennis clothes to knitwear clothes. 

     The company began expanding and now was very well known in Italy. Many remarkable athletes started wearing their clothes so many people started to adore this store and it became so much more famous. 



    Valentino is also a very well known brand that is known all over Italy. This brand was founded by Valentino Garavani.

    He started early with fashion designs and launched his first collection in Rome. His collection became popular because the skirts that he designed happened to be trending in that moment.

   In 1991 Valentino held his first expedition; he released marvelous sketches that were brought to New York and had more than 70,000 views in less than two weeks! Because of this, the brand Valentino, became one of the most famous in the world! For him, it was putting a cherry on top of an ice cream sundae.          

    Lasagna is a food that most people like in Italy and all over the world. Lasagna is a wide flat pasta and its name refers to a dish with several layers of sauces, meats, and other ingredients. The lasagna originated in a small region called Emilia-Romagna. There, the dough of the lasagna was traditionally prepared in southern Italy and then taken to the northern regions. Eventually, the lasagna became a traditional food and now on July 29th, it is declared to be National Lasagna  Day!         

  Italy has many types of delicious foods, many of which are very well known and have been around for a while.

    Pizza is a very well known food that is eaten mostly everywhere. The basic pizza is made out of dough, cheese, tomato sauce and the toppings of your choice.

   Did you know that 93% of the average American consumes pizza for their meal every day?!

   Pizza has been around for more than a 1,000 years but it did not become popular until after World War II. It eventually made its way to the United States, France, Spain, and England.  



   Gelato is a very popular food in Italy. Gelato is very similar to ice cream because it contains sugar, milk, and has many flavors. On the other hand, gelato includes less cream than regular ice cream, has less fat, less butterfat and has no egg yolk.

  Gelato was founded by the ancient Chinese and Egyptian people. They used snow, fruit, and salt to make the gelato. Then in 1686 the first gelato machine was built and placed in Paris and people all around the world loved it!   

   The Tower of Pisa is one of the most known of all structures in Italy because of its spectacular architecture that stands out. It took more than 340 years to build and is more 180 feet tall! The Tower of Pisa tilts 5.5 degrees and has a structure underneath the soil to support the tower and prevent it from falling.  

   The Tower of Pisa is located in Pisa, a town located in Tuscany, Italy and it is part of a cathedral complex known as Campo Dei Miracoli. Right after constructing the Tower of Pisa the soil under it started to shift and it was predicted that the tower was going to collapse, but fortunately, it did not collapse. This effect made it even more eye-catching and amazing for tourists to visit.     

   

    Architecture is a way to express the nature of art. It is a symbol of spectacular designs and materials that join together to form a beautiful structure. There are a lot of structures all over the world and many of which are famous.     

   

Architecture

   The Trevi Fountain is also a very famous fountain because of its elaborate and luxurious architecture. It was built in 1732 and soon became the largest fountain in Rome. The fountain contains statues made of marble and Carrara water from the Sea Reef. This is a fountain where people throw coins in, to ensure that they will come back to Rome and visit the fountain again.  

   The Colosseum also known as the Flavian Amphitheatre is also a very famous structure located in the center of Rome. The construction began in 72AD and was the center of celebrations, and fights between people, bulls and other wild animals. It was a stadium that could seat 50,000 people. 

   Now, only two-thirds of the structure still remains and it is not used for fighting anymore, so it is now open for tourists that come from around the world to visit.


    

     There are many famous dogs with long hair, short hair, curly hair, straight hair, and even no hair at all. Some dogs have been around for as long as you can remember and have a captivating history. They are all very different and loving. 

   The Bergamasco shepherd can live up to 15 years and has origins in the Italian Alps. It was originally used for herding cattle and sheep. This dog has many types of hair on its body that is mostly used for protection. For example, their fur coat is used to protect it from the cold as well as protect it from snake and insect bites.

 Their hair was used during World War II as wool to make clothes for soldiers in the war.  This made the Bergamasco shepherd an almost extinct animal, and now only about 600 dogs remain while people try to make efforts to save them.

Famous Dogs

     Bolognese dog was named after Bologna, a city in Italy.  It weighs only about 14 pounds and lives about 14 years. It is believed that this breed was originated in the times of the Ancient Roman Empire.   At the time, the Bolognese dog was painted on Flemish tapestries and in different paintings, and famous Italian people such as Duke of Mantua and Catherine the Great of Russia owned this breed.  This made the Bolognese dog become more popular.

   

   Volpino Italiano is a small dog that is usually white or black with thick fur and lives up to 15 years. Volpino also means “little Italian fox” in Italian. This dog has been around for a very long time and was loved by peasants and aristocrats. Eventually, in 1965 they later worked as farm guard dogs. There are about 1,000 dogs around these days.   

        



     There are many types of holidays in Italy, many of which are National Holidays, but there are some that are only celebrated in Italy and couple of different places too, such as the Holy Day that commemorates the belief and conception of Mary. In Italy, it is considered the start of the Christmas season. During this holiday people put up lights and decorations and world-famous markets sell them. 

   Italy is a country with many people who practice different cultures. Most people are Christian or Catholic and there are many languages that are spoken however the main language is Italian.     

Culture 

      Years before the end of the Roman Empire, the Roman emperor adopted Christianity.  When Groups of people invaded current Italy including the Barbarians, Carl Magno tried to reestablish the old Roman empire traditions which were part of their religion. Italy is not only Christian, some people are also Catholic and this makes 80% of the people in Italy. On the other hand, there are many agnostic, Muslim and atheist which make the other 20% of the population. 

           

    Did you know that Italy is home to more than 62 million people? 96% of the population in Italy speak Italian, though there are many other languages too, including Sardinia, Neapolitan, Greek, German and French depending on what part of Italy you are in. More than three thousand years ago Latin became the official language of the Roman Empire. Years later, different parts of Europe developed new languages including Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Romanian. Eventually, the whole entire  Italian peninsula adopted Italian as its new official language.

The Mona Lisa is considered one of the most famous paintings in the world because of its beautiful art that is expressed. In Italian Mona means madonna which means 'my lady' refering to 'my lady Lisa'. The Italian artist Leonardo da Vinci painted the Mona Lisa from 1503 to 1506. He started the painting in Italy and finished it in France. Soon after it became King Francis's the I and was displayed in one of the most famous museums in the world called the Louvre, in Paris.    

Art

   David is a sculpture that embodies the style known as Neoclassicism and was sculpted by Michelangelo when he was about twenty years old. It is a master piece that was created between 1501 and 1504 out of marble. It took about two years for him to build it in the Accademia Gallery in Florence, Italy. Over 8 million people go to visit David in the Accademia Gallery after it was moved from the Piazza.  

 Perseus with the Head of Medusa is a bronze statue that was made by Benvenuto Cellini. It was made during the period 1554-1554 and it stands in Loggia dei Lanzi of the Piazza della Signoria in Florence, Italy. There are also many other statues there,  but Perseus is one of the most famous ones there.

  Perseus is standing on Medusa's body while holding her head in the air. Cellini claims that it was very difficult to make the statue because of the fine details that it has and it was also difficult for him to fuse it in his kiln. 

  Did you know that he used all of his bronze dishwares in his house to put parts of the statue together? 

  

   There has been multiple Italian inventions but not all worldwide famous. One of the most famous Italian inventions are Jeans, Jacuzzi's and newspapers.

  One Italian invention are jeans. People use them almost everywhere! Almost every store in the U.S sells jeans! there are also many different styles, colors, textures and much more jeans that start trending.

   History of Jeans and Denim. Jeans are pants made from
denim or dungaree cloth. They were invented in 1873 and a worn still but in a different context. Jeans are named after the city of Genoa 
in Italy, a place where cotton corduroy, called either Jean or Jeane, was manufactured.

   The Italians made all types of jeans but most of all they are famous for blue denim jeans. Most people believe that jeans are from American culture but evidence shows that it has origins that date back to the 17th century in Genoa, Italy. Also, Did you know that the word "jeans" is thought to have been the French word for Genoa; Gênes.

Inventions


   Newspaper. Everybody knows what it is and it is used all over the world to notified important information that is happening in the world! Arguably, it was originated in Venice around the year of 1556 to carry political, military and economic news. The first the new made copies were called "avvisi". 

   Jacuzzi is a amazon place to relax. Did you know that the first whirlpool bath (also known as Jacuzzi) was designed as a therapeutic device for pain relief? The jaccuzi was invented by Candido Jacuzzi in 1949. His 15-mounth old son who was suffering from rheumatoid arthritis needed therapeutic conditions to help so his dad invented a jacuzzi order to help him.

   Italy is amazing and has so many beautiful sights and amazing food. many people visit per year and have a wonderful time visiting. It also known for many things that have been invented throughout the years and become famous. You have to go and visit it at least once in your life. 

  Italy has also very interesting history about how it came to be and what cultures it has in it.
