Introduction The NCFE Level 1 Award in Job Search and Interview Skills will help you to develop your employability skills and help increase your chances of success within the labour market You will identify realistic job goals for yourself and put some plans in place to achieve them You will also identify the skills you have now as well as the skills you might need or want in the future The qualification is made up of a set of learning outcomes and assessment criteria that describe what you need to be able to do and things you need to know to achieve your qualification There are 2 units in the qualification Unit 1 Preparing to achieve own job goals Unit 2 Promoting yourself and preparing for a job interview To achieve the NCFE Level 1 Award in Job Search and Interview Skills you have to successfully complete your assessment workbooks for Unit 1 and Unit 2 Planning your learning Your Tutor Assessor will help you to plan your work and will provide you with advice and guidance as you need it You will develop some new skills and knowledge and will need to practice what you have learned before you are ready for your assessment Evidence and assessment This assessment workbook includes questions for you to complete to demonstrate you have covered the requirements for Unit 2 an Evidence Tracking Sheet to help you keep track of the work you have done and the work you still need to do a Unit Declaration for you and your Tutor Assessor to sign when you have completed the unit You will also be asked to produce some other evidence such as a CV job application forms computer printouts of jobs you have researched discussion notes or reports statements from your Tutor Assessor or peers who have seen you carrying out activities working with other people in interview situations etc You will need to record these on your Evidence Tracking Sheet and put them in your course folder ready for assessment When your Tutor Assessor agrees you have met the required standards he she will sign the Unit Declaration at the end of this workbook 2 www reed ncfe org uk The REEDNCFE Partnership

The purpose of the CV is to collect together all your achievements and experience and display them in a condensed, well presented format that will entice an employer to give you an interview slot. Start the process, by identifying your target audience and selling directly to them.
The three main types of CV will fit most industries, these different types are: Functional CV. Chronological CV. Combined CV.
With the increased competition in the jobs market, it is more important than ever to tailor your CV to each role you apply for. In our experience, any other serious applicant will have do this, so if you don’t put in the effort you might not make it past the first hurdle.

purpose of the cover letter is to introduce yourself to an organization, demonstrate your interest in the company or a specific vacancy, draw attention to your resume and motivate the reader to interview you. Often this letter is the first contact you have with a prospective employer.
