A Note from the Superintendent
Dear Parents/Guardians and Community Members,
As we approach the holiday season the spirit of giving
surrounds our schools. At Hynes, the fourth grade
organized a Thanksgiving food drive to benet families
in our community. Donaons included canned goods
and non-perishable foods to help
families in need. At Golf Middle
School, the Volunteer Service Club
iniated the Give Change For a
Change fundraiser to support
people in crisis through the Red Cross.
This is the me of year when our calendars ll up with
special acvies and our days seem to be acon-
packed. It is also a me to reect on our districts
many accomplishments. I am thankful for our teachers,
sta, administrators, school board, parents and
guardians, and our precious students who together
make Golf School District 67 a special and safe place to
learn and grow.
On behalf of the Board of Educaon and
administraon, I wish you a happy, healthy, and safe
Thanksgiving!
Sincerely,
Beth Flores

State law
requires schools
to implement an
age-appropriate
sexual assault and abuse awareness
and prevenon curriculum for grades
Pre-K through 12.
Mr. Victor Pacini, a survivor of sexual
abuse and acclaimed movaonal
speaker, will assist our schools in
implemenng this mandate.
The focus of Victors presentaon is
teaching children basic skills to keep
them safe from dangerous or
abusive situaons. Mr. Pacinis
program is developmentally
appropriate, interacve, and aligned
with state learning standards. He will
present at our schools on the
following dates: HES on Dec. 4, and
GMS on Dec. 5, 2017.

A Day Of Wonder was held on
November 1st. Guest readers were
invited to read a chapter of the book
to students in grades 5-8.
Wonder is a story about Auggie, who
has a facial deformity and is going to
school for the rst me in his life. It is an upbeat,
humorous, life-arming story that deserves to be
read — and its one that may just change its
readers, too. In the spirit of family and
friendship, Golf Middle School students and sta
went on a
school-wide
eld trip to
view the
opening of the
movie Wonder
on November
17th.
Illinois Music
Education
Association
On Saturday, November 4th the ILMEA
Junior Level Choral Fesval was held at
Wauconda High School. The GMS Chorus, led
by Mrs. Crisna Brown, had three talented
8th grade musicians represenng our
program. During the day, they rehearsed
pieces with other talented students from
around our district, and then performed at a
concert in the aernoon. Parcipang in this
fesval helps student musicians grow as they
are performing more challenging music at a
fast pace.
Our student
musicians: Maria,
Sam, and Shalu
Thank you to Kevin Atwood,

teacher, and Faisal Baig,

session was called Integrang Technology and
