WEIGHTS AND DIMENSIONS FOR ALUMINUM EMT
Frequently Asked Questions
About Aluminum EMT
• Does Aluminum EMT Meet the Same Code Requirements
As Steel EMT?
YES – Sapa Aluminum EMT meets UL 797 Aluminum and
ANSI C80 3.
• Can I Use Galvanized Fittings With Aluminum EMT?
YES – NEC 344.10(A) allows the use of either aluminum or
galvanized fi ttings.
• Will Cutting Aluminum Be Harder Than Steel?
NO – Use your standard EMT cutting tools, and you’ll get fast,
easy cuts.
• Any Differences for Bending Aluminum EMT?
NO – Use your standard equipment, but it will be much easier.
• Is It Harder to Pull Cables Through Aluminum EMT?
NO – Independent tests show that aluminum & steel are
comparable.
• How Is Aluminum EMT Less Expensive Than Steel?
The savings come from a combination of extrusion technology
and the weight of the material. Aluminum extrusion can be
much more productive than steel to manufacture. Since
aluminum weighs 1/3 as much as steel, you save money
during handling logistics and installation.
