minerals

what is it? when it comes to foods it is a chemical element that your body requires as an essential nutrient 

how does it help the body? minerals help your body grow and develop and helps with your over all healthiness. it helps your nerves and your bones 

how does it hurt the body? you can get nausea, fatigue, nerve damage and even hair loss 

how much should one have of this nutrient?  you need a lot of what is called macro minerals and a small amount of trace minerals

carbohydrates 

what is it? organic compound that contains carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. It is the main source of energy for the body.  

how does it help the body? it gives you your energy, creates cushion for vital organs. 

how does it hurt the body? your body can only store so many carbohydrates so if coming to a greater amount your body starts to store it as fat 

how much should one have of this nutrient? 19+ should have 130 g per day.

fats

what is it? it is calories that help provide for the body but too much of bad fats can be really bad for you 

how does it help the body? good source of energy, cushion your organs. 

how does it hurt the body? they can make you gain bad weight and can clot your blood if you have to much fat 

how much should one have of this nutrient? .7 for women and .8 for men



Vitamins 

what is it? natural substances found in plants, animals and so on 

how does it help the body? each vitamin plays a different role on what they can do but they are mostly all good for you if taken in small portions 

how does it hurt the body? if you are deficient it can start to have major affects on the ody but that all depends what vitamin you are deficient of. 

how much should one have of this nutrient? vitamin a: 75mg          vitamin d:5mg        vitamin c:10mg 


Water

what is it? an element 

how does it help the body? keeps you hydrated helps your blood and helps clear your system 

how does it hurt the body? if you become dehydrated in can seriously damage your health and it can happen quite quickly 

how much should one have of this nutrient? eight- 8 oz glasses per day 

Proteins 

what is it? meats, eggs, nuts, milk 

how does it help the body? helps with strength and body composition 

how does it hurt the body? if you are deficient you can get brittle nails dry skin and thinning hair. 

how much should one have of this nutrient? females should have 46 grams while males should have 52 grams from age 14-18 then 56 grams when 19 and up

the least healthy thing to get at Starbucks is the chi tea latte it has 42 grams of sugar packed into it and is not healthy at all 

one of the least healthy drinks to get at Starbucks is the chi tea latte, teas can be treated like coffee and in this case it is. Packed with 42 grams of sugar this is one of the least healthy drinks you could get there.
