Construction Manager Scott Munro has recently become a partner in the business. Scott has more than 15
years’ experience in the Construction industry and has been leading teams at Harrison Lane for the past
five.
Scott has amassed a wealth of barn and stable construction knowledge and built two of his own houses.

We knew there were other companies out there who may design a good looking building, but we needed to be
secure in the knowledge that our stables were going to have the horses requirements as paramount.
There are a lot of equestrian buildings out there but not all of them are designed in an ecient or particularly horse
friendly manner. There are many details pertaining to horses that other builders may not be aware of
CLASSIQUE STABLE
When we decided to build a barn we went straight to Harrison Lane. From the outset, Laura was amazingly
ecient. She constantly reverted to us with emails advising of costings, variables and great advice. I had
a fairly good idea of what I wanted the building to look like but wasn’t sure of the ideal dimensions each
area needed to be. Laura tirelessly measured things out for me and went to a lot of eort in making sure
that I saw other barns with some of the dimensions that I was looking at incorporating in ours.
The choices in products were brought in as samples and the variables in price were given as options as
the project developed. There were no surprises cost wise and everything was built with quality in mind
but I was still able to adhere to my tight budget.
The stables are an absolute credit to Harrison Lane and I have had builders on site (from other projects)
comment that the stables are “a work of art”! We couldn’t be more thrilled with the finished building. Our
ponies are relaxed and happy in their spacious surroundings and we are delighted with the ease of
eciency in regards to the layout of the wash bays and tack room. The undercover tie up area and the
generous boxes have a great feel.
We couldn’t be more thrilled and highly recommend Harrison Lane to anyone wanting to build a barn or
stables, from an ecient company who kept our tight budget well on track.

We made contact with Laura Daly at Harrison Lane in September 2014, having contracted to buy some land
in Ararimu with a view to creating stables, truck bay and accommodation all incorporated into one building.
The experience got o to a good start with Laura taking most of a day to show us recently completed
Harrison Lane projects comprising various aspects of what we were looking for.
Laura subsequently provided preliminary drawings and costings reflecting our vision so we decided to run
with Harrison Lane for our project.
The truck bay, stables, tack room, etc, were well within Harrison Lane’s comfort zone and at times we
pushed the boundaries with the residential mezzanine component upstairs. Variations “on the hoof
were no problem to Harrison Lane including a reasonably major deck extension mid way through
construction. Our desires in terms of engineered flooring, highly spec’d kitchen and air conditioning were
all accomplished in a seamless manner.
The end result is in our view leading edge throughout and we have no hesitation in recommending Laura
and her team to anybody considering a similar project.

“Our project started as a tin shed to accommodate the lawnmowers and somehow ended up larger than
our house. I suspect we were not the easiest clients to deal with.
Harrison Lane were recommended by friends in the area and I started with a phone enquiry as to the
comparative costs to build a shed out of wood rather than tin.
Laura deserves a gold medal for patience and happily answering the many and varied questions that I
kept dreaming up prior to any commitment on my behalf.
Nothing was too much of a problem once I finally made a decision Laura somehow kept the project going
whilst accommodating my lack of decision making and dealing with new ideas I managed to dream up at
the last minute.
Having someone who knew what they were doing and had lots of experience with this type of building
was helpful as Laura and Scott could answer and give advice when our knowledge ran out.
The end result is a fantastic shed, better than what we could have initially envisaged. The process was
actually enjoyable and if I can dream up a reason to do it again I would without hesitation.

Laura at Harrison Lane has been outstanding in her management of our Barn project.
Laura kept us well informed of progress (we were not living on site), consulted well on potential cost
variations and eortlessly accommodated the addition of a potting “lean-to” early in the construction phase.
She was a pleasure to work with. We received regular photographic updates of progress on the build.
Harrison Lane came highly recommended by Nautica who were undertaking our house build. Their clients
had worked with Harrison Lane successfully on other barn builds that needed to visually fit with their new
house builds.
We are delighted with the quality of the build and how well the barn sits with the house and other

Following an initial meeting at Horse of the Year in 2015, Laura worked with the directors of the veterinary
practice and other industry partners to develop concepts for the new facility. A contract was signed in
September and design and consent proceeded smoothly. Regular project team meetings were held
on site and all parties shared a common vision for the project. Construction went smoothly and was
completed on schedule and budget, to the delight of the owners.
The over arching goal from Harrison Lane’s perspective was to make the facilities as user-friendly and safe
as possible for both the horses and the people that will utilise them.
THIS WAS ACHIEVED THROUGH:
Ensuring ease of equestrian access
Facilitating horse truck parking & moving, loading and unloading
A focus on the safety of the horses and the people working with them throughout the design and
construction process
Use of safe, appropriate, sustainable building materials (largely timber)
Paying attention to lighting and ventilation, including excellent night lighting which ensures the safe
movement of horses around the facility regardless of time of day
The establishment of this dedicated equestrian veterinarian facility in the Waikato enables the
equestrian community ready and local access to a purpose designed facility created specifically to
enable the safe handling and care of their sick/injured horses. It creates a central hub of equestrian
care that in turn fosters a dedication to expertise, innovation and a high standard of service provision.

Laura’s brief was all encompassing and the result is a credit to her experience, vision, energy,
organisation, honesty and perseverance
.
“In mid 2014 we purchased a run down 65 acre property at Ardmore, South Auckland, with a plan to turn
the property into a commercial equestrian business. Breeding, all weather lit arenas for year round riding,
a classy environment for riding coaches to bring their clients for lessons, stables for full livery and agistment
and facilities and amenities to enhance the experience for our future clients.
With little real rural experience ourselves, other than training and competing in show jumping and eventing,
we turned to Harrison Lane’s Laura Daly to help us develop our multi- million dollar dream. Her task was
to turn our vision to reality; and it was a big task.
In the intervening 10 months, with Laura in control of the project and absentee owners not able to provide a
lot of support, Laura has changed a run down property in the low foothills of the Hunua ranges at Ardmore
into what is fast becoming horse heaven.
Initially constructing covered yards to get us started riding, then earthworks for a lit 60m x 20m dressage
and warm up sand arena, an 80m x 50m jumping arena surfaced with a world class all weather silica sand/
GGT jumping mix. Finally construction of a 20 stall stable and covered yard barn complex with tack and
feed rooms and wash down areas. In addition; a hay barn, tracks, storm water and drainage, retaining walls,
landscaping and an observation room rounds o this stage of the project.
We look forward to the significant levels of interest which has developed in what Harrison Lane has
created for us turning into a profitable business and fun recreational venture. Harrison Lane has earned
our ringing recommendation.
