Elon Musk was born in Pretoria, South Africa on June 28th, 1971.
Musk taught himself computer programming at age 12, and created his own game which he sold for $500
Musk moved to Canada in June of 1989, just after graduating high school and right before he turned 18, and became a Canadian citizen.
In 1995, Elon Musk and his brother Kimbal co-founded “Zip2,” a web software company, which was very successful, and eventually led to Elon Musk getting $22 million from the sale.
One of Elon Musk’s most popular companies is SpaceX, which is a private organization, that builds and launches rockets, and Musk eventually wants to use this company to help colonize Mars.
Elon Musk got involved in Tesla when he led one of the first rounds of investment in the company. This led him to join the board of directors as Tesla’s chairman, and oversaw much of the Roadster model’s production.
After the economic crash in 2008 and various departures from leaders in the company, Musk began to lead Tesla as CEO and product architect, both of which he still holds today.
