A BIOGRAPHY BY
CARO MIRANDA
Christian Dior was born in
northern France in 1905. In 1947,
Dior came onto the Paris fashion
scene with designs that reinvented
style through wartime restrictions.
Throughout his career, Dior
worked for many designers, until
World War 2 , where he served
for the French Army. Upon his
return, he worked for Lucien
Lelong, dressing prominent
women and wives of Nazis, kicking
off his career.
After World War 2, the world was taken by Christian
Dior’s designs. He has designed gowns for Natalie
Portman, Charlize Theron, Jennifer Lawrence and
Marion Cotillard.
In 1957, months after
appearing on the cover of
Time magazine, Christian
Dior traveled to Italy. On
October 23, 1957, in Italy,
he suffered what was his
third heart attack and
died, at the age of 52.
Christian Dior reinvented
the Fashion Industry,
crating a new look for
women. He turned
fashion, a business
nobody thought about
during the war, into an
empire.
Today, Dior is
at the top of the
fashion empire.
Dior is a
designer brand
widely used
today by not
only celebrities,
but everyday
