Chance Camp returned during the Christmas break for 2
action packed days of Rugby. The camp was held at
Cockermouth RUFC which meant we were well and truly up against the elements.
Even though the weather wasn't great, it wouldn't dampen our spirits, with every-
one adamant we’d get outside to work on our skills and have fun!
During the 2 morning sessions of the camp, we focused a lot on developing the chil-
dren’s physical skills. We did this through mini circuit drills that improves strength,
co-ordination, balance and speed. In the afternoons, the children were ready to put
those physical skills into practice in a series of games and competitions. This meant
there were lots of activities that tested the children’s speed, agility and hand eye co-
ordination. The children were also set challenges so they had to come up with tactics
and strategies to solve the problems. These were things that might occur in match
style situations. We also had lots of Christmas competitions which meant lots of
prizes were awarded by the end of the camp.
Once again everyone that attended the camp worked brilliantly through the testing
conditions, making great progress during the 2 days. This meant both coaches and
children left feeling happy ready for the Christmas break!
