NORTH WEST COUNTIES PLATE CHAMPIONS KS3 RUGBY LEAGUE Y7 8 After beating reigning champions Byrchall High in the Semi Finals Cansfield s KS3 Rugby Team advanced into the North West Counties Plate Finals at Orrell Rugby League Club This in itself was history for Cansfield however the boys wanted to go one step further and win it Unfortunately on the day the stormy weather did not suit a perfect game of rugby and everyone knew that they would have to dig deep if they were to come away with the win In true Cansfield style every player went the extra mile and when most would have expected the game to be over Owen Draper came up with the magic and barged over the line This was followed up by a dramatic conversion by Reece Bligh which sealed a 22 20 win for Cansfield with no time left on the clock Captain Layton Gorner lifted the plate whilst Owen Draper took the Man of the Match award that was selected by the RFL A final big thanks must go to the parents and family members who supported the boys throughout the journey and at the final itself Well Done FAREWELL AND HAPPY RETIREMENT Summer 2017 marks the retirement of three valued colleagues who between them have 120 years of service to Cansfield All have worked tirelessly behind the scenes as office manager PA site and financial manager This school has benefited enormously from their presence skills and personalities Our very best wishes to Mrs Carol Johnson Mr Elgar Matthews and Mr David Parfitt Cansfield will miss you enormously Have a lovely retirement 14 CANSFIELD CHRONICLE CANSFIELD CHRONICLE 15
