Binge Eating symptoms:

  • Frequent episodes of eating abnormally large amount of food

  • Being unable to stop eating

  • Eating rapidly than usual

  • Eating until you’re uncomfortably full

  • Eating large amount of food when not hungry

  • Feelings of disgust, depression, or guilt after overeating

 

Complications of Binge eating Disorder:

  • Diabetes

  • High Blood Pressure

  • High Cholesterol

  • Heart Disease

  • Decreased Mobility

  • Shortness of Breath

 

Binge Eating Disorder affects:

  • Nervous System- ”The nervous system is a complex network of nerves and cells that carry messages to and from the brain and spinal cord to various parts of the body.” The person gets a low self-esteem. “Co-occurring conditions such as depression may be present. Those with BED may also experience social isolation, moodiness, and irritability.” “it is very clear that a patient's nervous system (which includes the brain and nerves) is negatively impacted when they have restrictive behaviors. Research has found that eating disorders may cause.”

  • Circulatory system- “The circulatory system is composed of the heart and blood vessels, including arteries, veins, and capillaries.”Binge Eating Disorder affects the heart. “Individuals with BED had a 2.5-times increased risk of also having an endocrine disorder and a 1.9-times increased risk of having a circulatory system disorder.” High Cholesterol is caused by Binge Eating Disorder. When someone has high cholesterol their circulating blood flow is affected. This can lead to an heart attack or a stroke.

  • Digestive System- “Your digestive system is uniquely designed to turn the food you eat into nutrients, which the body uses for energy, growth and cell repair.” If you binge eat, then you have a chance of being overweight. If you’re overweight then you have a chance of getting gallstones.
