A World of Blue Animals

Discovering blue animals all around the world.

Blue is for Blue Tailed Skink

Found in the forests, the 4-8 cm Blue Tailed Skink hunts for invertebrates who need to be aware all day long because the scary tailed skink is awake from 10am to 2pm.  It's possible to see them out before or after, and if you do, they are most likely wandering around.  The most common place to see the Blue Tailed Skink is on fences and walls.

 Another one!

When the prey of a Blue Tailed Skink eats the Skinks tail, it's possible for the Skink to regrow its bright blue tail back. When the Skink see’s a predator, it uses its quick speed to run away. It’s speed can wear down the animal chasing it. The Blue Tailed Skink is so fast it could escape a pack of tigers.

Did you know dolphins have a separate hole for eating and to breathe?  Dolphins have the ability to hold their breath underwater for several minutes. With the blowhole,  dolphins can sit on the surface of the water and breath without lifting their head up.

Blue is for Blue Starfish

These 3 inch, 7-9 ounce fish are actually born green!!! The blue starfish get its color from pigment.  The amount each pigment makes is the color range of the starfish. They are found in the Pacific and Indian Oceans.  They’re also known as the comet sea star. If the starfish is sitting on a rock,  a predator could come and bite its arm off for dinner. It’s no worries for the starfish though because it could just grow a new arm right back! But they shouldn't worry because the blue starfish has some poison in it to help keep away the predators.

What a Color!!

Did you know that starfishes are born green and over time progress to blue?  Some even turn yellow!  There are variations of different color blues that the starfish can turn to over time.  Pure, dark, or light blue are just some. They are usually very short and can blend in with the sea depending on their color of course!  The blue starfish can stick and also blend in with blue rocks too.
