What is it? Long chain of amino acids and is needed for living organisms. It is especially needed for structural component s of the body.

 How can it help the body? Protein can help by repairing skin and tissues. Also it is a important building block of bones, muscle and skin.

How can it hurt you? You could gain weight and if you eat mostly protein, you could have trouble using the bathroom because of the fiber that you are not consuming.

How much should one have of this nutrient? .36 grams per pound of your body weight per day.

Interesting fact about protein: Keratin is a protein that makes up of hair.

What is it? A natural and greasy substance in an animal's body.

How does it help the body? It can give you energy, and can help your body stay warm. Fat can also absorb nutrients to produce hormones.

How can it hurt the body? Saturated fats can bring your cholesterol levels up. Which could lead up to  heart disease.

How much should one have of this nutrient? 

2000 calorie diet is 400-700 calories of fat.

Interesting fact:  Unsaturated fat is a liquid at room temp.

How can it help the body? It can convert food into energy, heal wounds and does other roles in the body.

How Can It Hurt the body? Overdosing on vitamins could have side effects on your body like damaging organs, and damaging the inside of your body.

Vitamin D is 400-800 IU or 10-20 mircograms.

Interesting Fact: Eating an entire polar bear liver, can be fatal to humans because of the polar bear's liver is rich in vitamin A

Iron helps red blood cells to carry the oxygen throughout the body.

How can it hurt the body? Calcium can reduce effectiveness of antibiotics.

How much should one have of this nutrient? About 1,000 milligrams calcium for adults and 10-15 milligrams of iron.

Interesting fact: Nuts and seeds are sources of copper.

How can it help the body? Maintains balance with body fluids.

How can it hurt the body? If you over hydrate yourself, it could be dangerous because your body is taking in too much fluid.
